Info in brief

Collaboration is the object of research in diverse fields, which underpins the need for interdisciplinary approaches to this social phenomenon. Therefore the scope of the conference will be devoted to highlight the various concepts of collaboration in the modern world, since collaboration includes a number of different attributes such as: reciprocity, partnerships, transfer and exchange of information, joint negotiations, dialogue, joint creation of knowledge, etc.

In previous years, the importance of collaboration between key stakeholders in society was considered of secondary importance – just as (un)intentional product. Today, however, call for increased collaboration occurs in virtually all areas of social action. Progressively, more attention is given to cooperation between higher education and economy and the formation of (in)formal coalitions within organizations or society. These policies underpin collaboration’s position of power in the society.

The purpose of this conference is to contribute to an increased understanding of the role of collaboration and, by doing so, to build an interdisciplinary approach.

The organisers welcome the submission of papers to the overall theme Multi-faceted nature of collaboration in contemporary world or to one of the following special sub-themes:

  1. Collaboration in EU: Challenges and opportunities
  2. Collaboration mechanisms in the process of knowledge creation
  3. Interdisciplinarity and collaboration
  4. Post-traditional forms of collaboration
  5. Collaboration in historical prospective
  6. Collaboration between universities and society
  7. Down-sides of collaboration
  8. Networks and collaboration
  9. Collaboration in public or private organizations
  10. Collaboration in the multicultural context
  11. Methodological issues and collaboration

Papers from other sub-fields of collaboration studies are also invited.

Guidelines for authors

a) Extended abstract guideliness

Extended Abstract Submission Deadline: 20. 10. 2011

At this stage, you may submit either a full paper or an extended abstract (3-5 pages). Furthermore, in the extended you must also include a concise short summary (500 words).

If you are not ready to submit a full paper at the first stage, you may alternatively submit an extended abstract, however the abstract must be in line with the guideliness as presented below.

In order to facilitate a fair double blind review process, your extended abstract must have at least three (3) to five (5) pages (without title page) and provide at least the following information:

  • the title of the paper and author information (affiliation and position);
  • a concise short summary (500 words) and keywords (up to 5);
  • the main question / topic addressed in the paper;
  • the main theses advanced or tested;
  • the relevance of the topic regarding the current state of knowledge;
  • main sources / literature used;
  • the main analytical method to be used in the paper (if mathematical model, explain its structure; if econometric estimation, explain the data and the testing method; if case study, explain the information available and the method of deriving conclusions; if theoretical narrative, explain the existing knowledge and the value added of the paper compared to it; if other, explain in appropriate detail);
  • expected results of the paper.

The extended abstract should follow the APA style guideliness as far as possible. General information on APA can be found at: http://flash1r.apa.org/apastyle/basics/index.htm

b) Full paper guideliness

You may submit your full paper either in the first stage (instead of the extended abstract) by 30. 11. 2011 or in the second stage by 15. 12. 2011.

 The full paper should follow the APA style guideliness, available at: http://flash1r.apa.org/apastyle/basics/index.htm.
